House of M

I already read it last month but I just remember posting it on my blog tonight. This is a story of Avengers and X-men, deciding on the fate of Wanda (Scarlet Witch) if they have to keep her alive or just decide on how to handle her situation because she has become a threath to the world (to humans and mutants alike). Wanda lost control on her reality-altering abilities after her major nervous breakdown and put the world in grave danger. Her brother, Pietro (Quicksilver) upon knowing the meeting of the two groups, went to see Wanda and their father Magneto. Yet Magnito himself does not know how to handle the situation.

X-men decides to vote for Wanda's situation but the Avengers refuse to vote. They decided to visit Wanda and decide her fate upon seeing her. Unfortunately they can't find her (pietro and Magneto too). Upon searching, everything went white and the next thing they know, they got what their hearts desire.

The story is great and so is the artwork. I really love the book. It's a must have. I really can't tell much because I don't want to spoil the fun. It has a lot of twist and turns. Hearth thumping suspense and action. I recommend it to all comic lovers out there. When you have the copy just sit back, read and have a great ride. Enjoy!!!

Tuesday Morning

Just realized na nakakapagod din pala to chase someone/something na you know you won't ever reach. Been trying your best but no matter what, it all amounts to nothing. In the end you will just end up being hurt and left all by yourself. No matter how much you tried and do your best it won't matter. For it will not be yours.

I've been a fool trying to dream that someday it will all pay off. That I won't ever give up. Yet it seems that it will all stay to be just a dream as a new day unravels before my eyes. Should I wake up now or forever live in a delusion.

It's hard to let go. Everyone says I must. My mind says I should. My heart whispers otherwise. Whichever I will follow, I know I'll end up being hurt and I'm tired. Tired of facing it. Tired of chasing. Tired of endless disappointments. But still can't let go.

I tried not to care. I tried not to bother. Yet it only hurts me even more.

Most people thinks that I'm a fool to allow these things to happen. Afterall, it's still my decision. Yet I can't decided. Confuse. Afraid. Hurt.

How much longer should I wait? How much longer I can go on like this? How much pain should I have to endure? How much?

Tuesday morning I ask again myself, but still there's no relpy from me.

MRT Queue

Just look at howlong the queue is when you're trying to enter the MRT Station Cubao. It reaches below the stairs leading to the Farmers Market.

Inside MRT

After a few days of posting the "MRT Sardines" entry, someone e-mailed me photos of what really is happening inside the can. Below are some photos that was sent to me by the anonymous reader.

woah

As you can see, the people struggles to fit inside but I think it's OK for them as long as they arrived their destinations on time. Even if it would mean they would be exchanging smell and faces. Below are two more photos.

Congrats Little Brother!!!

Image hosting by Photobucket

My brother finally graduated today. I'm s proud of him. He had a pretty difficult time during elementary years because of health reasons and he stopped college for a semester for the same reason. Now that he made it through college, I can say that there's more to be expected of him. IT was somehow easy for him compared to his batchmates - like eating turon. He's brilliant and I know it right when we were small. Again, wow!!!

Hmmm the good part of him being a graduate are the gifts that he receive - a motorcycle, land title and his very own business lang naman. Galing!!!

Fools Rush In

Wise men say, only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you..

Wise men say, only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you..

Shall I stay
Would it be a sin
Cause' I can't help falling in love with you...

As the river flows, Gently to the sea
Darlin so we go, somethings were meant to be..
Take my hand, take my whole life too
Cause' I can't help fallin in love with you...

As the river flows, Gently to the sea
Darlin so we know, somethings were meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life too
Cause' I can't help fallin in love with you...

I can't help...falling in love with you
I can't help...falling in love with you
I can't help...falling in love with you...

MRT Sardines...

Paikot-ikot from entrance papsok ng Cubao station then sa entrance ng farmers and then back sa station

Almost everyday these are the scenarios that you're going to face when trying to ride the MRT at Cubao Station going south. So many people in the queue.

Haay araw-araw na lang

Imagine the long queue and sometimes you have to fall in line again when buying ticket because most of the time the Stored Value tickets are no available. I kept remembering the Enervon commercial which says that more energy mas happy. Sigh, even if I have to take the whole bottle, I'll still lack the energy to stay happy because during entering you have to wait in line, then inside the station you have to insert yourself if you want to ride the earliest train. When inside the train all of you have to compress like sardines as if everyone wants to make beso-beso with complete straingers.
Ayan malapit nko makapasok

But then again, if you want to be early (though you would perspire and smell awfull), you have to adjust and make singit all you can and use all your energy early in the morning even if it means not so being happy. And then you have to go to the gym so you could be stronger in making tulak and sik-sik when riding the train at MRT Cubao Station.

P.S. I'm not complaining though, just wannt to share this unfortunate everyday experience.

Native Chicken BBQ

I happen to come across picture of one of the store who sells native chicken bbq, Kidapawan City style, upon browsing my photo gallery. That's what I forgot to eat when I went home last Christmas Season. It's a local favorite and we just can't have enough of them. I loved it. Contrary to the notion that if it's native chicken it must be hard to eat. No, not at all. It's so delicious. Every bite brings smile to our faces upon devouring it's tending, tasty meat. Plus the sauce specially made for bbq of these kind compliments the taste adding extra rich taste which the local people love, specially the children. Sigh, how could I forget such a wonderful meal. Waahhhh...

So if you visit Kidapawan, be sure to taste our local native chicken bbq. You'll definitely love it too.

Brokeback Mountain

A friend of mine told me about the movie Brokeback Mountain and told me to read the reviews because all of them are praising the movie.

I first read the synopsis and then the reviews. The movie is directed by Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Hulk) and stared by Heath and Jake.

The movie is about two cowboys who are assigned to guard sheeps. Then in the process they became friends and eventually lovers. Then they were separated after the job was done. They then live a separate lives away from each other and having families of their own. Then one day Jake sent Heath a postcard informing him of his whereabouts and the romance starts again.

Their relationship grew stronger as time passed by but affecting the lives of their wife and children. Specially Heath's wife who saw them kissing by the stairs. But Heath's love for Jake is much stronger that Michelle's (who portrays Heath's wife), ending their marriage in divorce and so on and so forth.

The movie shows the different kind of relationship between two men and how they were able to make it last 'til death parts them.

The leading casts were good. But surprisingly, Michelle Williams (Dawson's Creek) whom we always see in a typical teenage movies did a pretty good job. According to one Chinese movie reviewer, Ang Lee was able to enterpret the American plot with Eastern style which make the movie great.

The movie is doing pretty good in awards (Best Picture at Golden Globes) and was nominated for 8 Oscars including Best Picture, Director and Actor. This is the first gay-themed movie having been nominated for major awards in Oscars.

I have to see it personally though, to see it for my own how good the movie is.

I Finally Saw Princess Mononoke

Image hosting by Photobucket

After a very long time of waiting and searching for Princess Mononoke film, I was able to watch it. The film is about a prince being infected by a demon and had to leave his village and go to far east to beg for the forest spirit to restore him. If not he himself will become a demon, lose his humanity and eventually die. Along the course of his search he met different characters. Including the lady who mines copper and turn it into bullets and killing beasts and destroying forests in the process. He also met Princess Mononoke, a girl raised by wolf god, who were fighting the copper lady and defending the forest and beasts. Their lives intertwined and so there goes the plot. I don't want to be a spoiler for those who weren't able to see it. The film is superb. The artwork, story line, and the plot. The best.

Image hosting by Photobucket Image hosting by Photobucket

I also watched Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle before I saw Princess Mononoke. Both films are great too. Spirited Away is a film about a young girl trying to save her parents who were turned into pigs because of eating too much in the land of the spirits. Now she has to serve the witch so that her parents will be restored soon, if not they will remain to be pigs forever.

Howl's Moving Castle, on the other hand, is about a young girl (who makes hat) turned into a very old lady by simply sending the Witch of the wasteland out in her hot shop (actually, because she was also aided in one incident by Howl that's why the witch follow her in the hat shop). Now she must travel far to where the gods reside to ask the witch to restore her or find someone to help her. There, he saw the moving castle and decided to be Howl's helper. Then she discovers things, including Howl's strange powers and behavior. And so the story goes by finding the cure to restore herself and help Howl about his dilemma - finding his true self.

Now what are you waiting for, go and buy your own copies of these fantastic films. Enjoy!

Pacman... Wins Second Fight!!!

Yeah Pacman won or El Terible. I enjoyed the fight. My friend was even teasing me because I seemed to be so nervous about the fight were in fact we already know the result - Pacman knocked Morales out on the 10th round - because our friend texted us from US about the outcome of the fight. I just can't help it. I got all too excited and got so nervous. Hehehe. :D

Narnia

I love the movie. I watched it early January and I'm not sure what to expect because I've heared a lot of comments from friends. I first saw the books way back 2002 when one of my classmates in college was reading it. I didn't pay much attention nor look at it closely because we were busy reviewing for our licensure exam come November of the same year.

Late 2005, I heared that they're making Book 2 a movie from another friend and I told my friend that I heared about the book but wasn't able to read it. My friend told me that it was a very good book and he can't wait to see it on the big screen.

Inside the cinema I hide my excitement because most of the people watching were older than I am, many police and military personels were there too. I was actually expecting to see children but I was wrong.

The film was great. The sequences, plot and cinematography are the best. I love the characters there too. Jadis, the White witch, is perfect. Being cruel and emotionless (even to the point wherein she was trapped by Aslan) and all that. I enjoyed it and I would surely recommend it. :D

Lagi nalang umu-ulan
Parang walang katapusan
Tulad ng paghihirapko ngayon
Parang walang humpay

Maalala mo sanang may
Nagmamahal sa’yo.
Ako…..Lalalalalalalalala….

(12 = 1)

I dedicate this song to you... Hope you're same...

ONLY YOU
by Sam Milby

Only you can make this world seem right
Only you can make the darkness bright.
Only you and you alone
can thrill me like you do
and fill my heart with love for only you.

Only you can make this change in me,
for it's true, you are my destiny.
When you hold my hand,
I understand the magic that you do.

You're my dream come true,
my one and only you.

Only you can make this change in me,
for it's true, you are my destiny.
When you hold my hand,
I understand the magic that you do.

You're my dream come true,
my one and only you.

One and only you.

Spikey's Day Out at Jollibee

I was pretty busy with the computer because this day would be my last day to use it because I'll be back in Manila tomorrow. Then my little brother Spikey went up to me and told me that he wanted to go to Jollibee with me. I told him I don't have any money but he told me it's ok because he will pay all the expenses. I told him how much do you have there and he showed me about Php 50.00. I told him that wouldn't be enough because we have to bring home some for his older brothers and sister. Upon hearing what I said he dialed the telephone and talked to mom that we're going to visit her in her office to get some money to buy foods at Jollibee and then informing me that everything is fix and I have to take a bath to prepare for out visit at Jollibee. Hmmm very smart kid. Impressive.

On Queue

When we arrived at Jollibee, I didn't expect to see a lot of other customers so I have to wait in queue for a moment. When it's our time my little brother ordered for us. We enjoyed every moment. Hehehe. Below are the photos I took and collected for you to see. Enjoy.

Sarap to the bones?

Choco wacko?

I am a hero?

Tokens (2001)

My flight schedule tomorrow, going back to Manila, is about 07:30 in the evening. I am not very excited to be back yet I have to. The reason why I am feeling such way, aside from missing my parents, my siblings, and my relatives/friends, is that I'm saying goodbye to marangyang buhay as well.

Anyhow, while I'm browsing through my stuffs to bring back with me to Manila, I saw on our table in the living room the jar that was given to me by my college friend Aya and inside it were all the tokens and mini gifts given to me by my friends way back in college. If I can remember it right, I received those gifts before the start of Christmas holiday of 2001. Upon seeing it, all the nice memories that I've had in college came rushing back at me. I just noticed myself smiling alone looking at the jar. It was such a very nice feeling and it soothes me. Oh college life - such a blissful one.

lovers mugs

Aside from the jar. I also found the mugs that was given to me by my former girlfriend. I was looking at it for too long and suddenly burst out laughing. I just can't help it but reminisced the old times. How we came to be and ended as friends. Anyway, there was a story why she gave me the mugs. When we usually go out and roam around the malls, she usually holds my hand or put her arm around my arm as we stroll. We were so much young then and it made me uncomfortable but since she love doing it and I love her then, I compromised. Every time she do that, our friends would notice our expressions. Me being too conscious and she's all proud. 'Ey, I'm not saying that I'm not proud it just seem too awkward for me at that point in time. Our friends told her about that and when she came looking for a perfect gift with her bestfriend they were thinking of what would best represents the scenario. When her bestfriend spotted the mugs, they both agreed to buy it without even talking and wrapped it and gave it to me as a gift. So that's the story behind the cute colossal mugs and why I laughed like mad.

It was such a happy moment for me. Remembering the good times and reminscing it like it just happen yesterday. That's the reason why college life for me is far more better (best) than high school life.

Of First Impression and Becoming Familiar

Whenever I meet new people whether in a party, in the office, in school, and some other events they do find me snob, airhead, or some rich kid who doesn't care about the world but myself. Well, if you ask most of the people, who supposedly know me, they would tell you exactly the same thing. Hahaha. Yes, that's their first impresion on me too. Am I that kind? Really?

Me?!

As time passes by, I become accustomed to that kind of silly, hard, and very inhuman treatment. Hmp. So what I do is I remain as I am. >:). My friends like me for who I am (finger crossed). They don't even stab me at the back (I hope). If you'll as them, my friends that is, when they became familiar with me na and try to know me even more (trying to unmask me, stripping me bare naked), they would tell me that I'm so much more. Their first impression remains as first impression because I'm totally different. Hmmm. It might actually helps protecting myself from "strangers" who didn't know any better but judge you on the spot with out any concrete basis.

But my experienced on first impression at Pasonic with Japanese bosses was different. They like me on the spot from the very first day I step inside the office. They think I'm smart, confident, and oozing with lots of drive and persistence to do things. Woah! That was a pressure on my part but that also inspired me to strive even more. Luckily, I didn't disappoint them, I was able to go beyond their expectations and achieve good results. Therefore, I got good pay hahaha.

The other 10%.

My view on first impression, on the other hand, is so much like all other people out there. But - yes, there's a but - I don't stick with it. I try to exert more effort and let time slip by to know more about the person but my first impression seems to be 90% correct most of the time. The 10% being not liking how the person look like. Hehehe. >:). Bad?! Not really because if I see you looking like that I'll exert some effort, in a kind way, to tell you that you don't look good (this is true, go ask my friends). First, I would tell them how I buy my clothes and make sure that I look ok and stuff like that. Not that I'm perfect but at least I see to it that I look pleasing. Then, alas, they will be inspired. They'll do more. They will exert more effort than just taking a bath.

I hate people who are so narrow minded. Completely relying what they think on gossips. Not exerting any effort of knowing what lies beneath. Completely overshadowed by bitterness and being envious all the time. I also hate people who spread gossips, I know this is again off the topic but I just can't help hating them. Also those so called writers/journalist who are so obsessed with being the first to know and being the on spotlight behind the scene stuff with out realizing what they've done until it's too late and there's absolutely nothing you can do to piece up the fragments of the broken dignity of the person being victimized. Grrrr. I just hate that person (no wonder she remains poor after all the gossips she spread). What I'm trying to say is, we should know how to draw the line. We should also respect the person. All of us has it's own skeletons hiding in our closets and we don't want these demons bothering us so let's just left them be. Respect my brothers and sisters and do remember the golden rule.

First impression plays an important role in everyone of us but to know more the person we must first become familiar with them for our impression to become more concrete.

My Designs thru Out the Holidays

Since I went home (Kidapawan) last December 19, 2005, I've got more time spare for myself and most of my time spent in cooking, playing badminton, surfing the net, and of course using Photoshop software wherein I can express my creativity through designing stuffs like greeting cards to background pictures for blogs and friendster.

The above pictures are sample of what I've done so far. You can see how I turned my former officemate Ivy into a movie star, my brother Michael into a star circle quest finalist, the Mandap sisters into greeting cards for christmas, my sister Michelle into an 8-time platinum artist, and myself into just myself hehehe.

There are a lot of things you can actually do and achieve using photoshop. You can eliminate scars and pimples from your oily face. Change your eye color, and a lot more. You just have to know the basic of photoshop and explore it. And of course it depends from each person's creativity as well because you would always rely on your imagination and how you see a certain picture and how to create it into something new and very different from the original pictures. I enjoyed every minute I spent using the software and I am sure if you will just take time exploring it, you will too.

Well, in 2 days time I'll be back in Manila and have to suffer of not having my own PC and DSL connection. Sigh. How sad.

How to Survive a Layoff from Gym

Ever since I decided to lift weights for P.E. during my 3rd year in college, I was hooked. I've got good results thus, I have good grades as well. Since I love the changes/effects it had on my body, I didn't stop. I still lift weights even when I'm reviewing for my board exam. After I passed the board exam and was looking for my first job in Manila, it became impossible for me to have time to go to gym plus I need to save since I was by myself and had to budget everything for the time being until I find myself a job. So I had to stop lifting weights.

After I was hired by Panasonic, I was able to go back to the gym because they have the facility. I was able to go back in shape. Then I resigned because I need to go back to school, unfortunately I was not able to do so because of some reasons I can't disclose. Anyways, I stop going to gym again. Then I tried to be a call center agent and my schedule became worst. Upon knowing that there is a certain program between Texas Instruments and Tesda, I had to resign once again to avail the rare upportunity to become a Process Engineer at Texas Instruments (TI) in Baguio City.

I was accepted at TI and I found out that they had a gym for employees so I decided to visit it and try to lift weights once more. Yet my schedule make it impossible for me to have a regular visit to the gym so my body remain so slim and the tones were less visible. After the program ended, I went back to Manila. This time I decided to relax for a while and try to look for a job later on. My activities were less tiring and I do not move a lot but my eating habits are the still the same. I didn'y notice that I'm gaining weight gradually until the lass three months I noticed that I am becoming fat. I'm losing my shape and my muscles are covered with fat. I became less active and I find it too tiring to do just anything. Even playong badminton didn't help because I find it too expensive already so I don't play much. My abs were covered with fat and my tummy are huge and sloppy. Asif that's not enough, my face become too oily and pimples begin to appear not only on my face but on my back as well. Yuck. This is too much. This is insame. I don't wanna be fat and ugly. I had to do something.

Then, my mom called me on my mobile telling me she's going to Manila and I have to meet her. I was excited and yet so nervous. I'm so afraid what would be her reaction is. She's used to see me on my best form and not this ugly fat creature. Well, I have no choice but to meet with her. When we saw each other I can see that she's quite shocked at what she saw but remain silent. Then she informed me that we have to wait for her kumare because she scheduled a dinner for all of us. While waiting for her, I decided to go to the loo to check for my appearance thinking this situation is so awkward and so embarrasing. At the doorway I saw her but I pretend I haven't and headed straight inside even if I hear her calling my name. That was rude but I must check what I look like first.

So I was told

Upon facing the mirror, I lose my confidence. I am a disaster. A face even a mother won't love. Sigh. I decided to wash off the excess oil on my face and went out to meet them all. The dinner went ok. Afterwards, me and mom have to send her kumare and her son (with his gf) to their vehicle. Then my mom said goodbye and it's time for me to send my farewell as well. Then my mom's kumare whispered, "Ayaw na pagpatambok ha. Taba na kaau ka ba. (Don't get too fat. You are so fat already.)" I felt that all the blood left my body, I was completely embarrased. This is not good. This is pure humaltion beyond compare. It took all my strenght to smile at her remark and she bid goodbye leaving me felt like dirt.

Then came the Holiday Season. Christmas and New Year Celebrations had come and go. Yet my body fat stayed and even growing more. I did all the cooking and had to taste all the food I prepared and of course had to eat (a lot) since I do love my cooking. Luckily, my dad, brothers and sister love playing badminton so we play almost everyday, except on the 31st of December and the 1st of January, since I went home from Manila last December 19th. I did help because I was able to burn some stored fat yet that was not enough.

12 week? Hmmm.

Last night, I saw my old copy of Men's Health Magazine dated February 2003. In the cover I saw the words "GET BACK IN SHAPE! SEE RESULTS IN 14 DAYS!" and I thought I should see that article. So browse the magazine. I saw an article there entitled "The Next Action Hero" featuring actor Jerry O'Connel who was required to hit the gym for his role in Kangaro Jack movie. The article includes burn rate, food fighters (clean food, protein all day and 20% rule). Also included here is a simple 7-day workout schedule because most people go to gym makes a mistake by concentrating on one area of the body and stressing it too much until the muscle doesn't have the chance to recover and it's too late. Also some other areas are left neglected.

7-day routine

The two factors that stressed out in the article are frequency and intensity to simplify the trainings needed for by the body. In the article, you can find out that freguency is a simple matter of knowing how often you can stress your muscles. Jorgen de Mey, gym instructor for the action hero stars, says that the bigger the muscle group, the more time it needs to recover. "Your legs, for example, needs 5 to 6 days to recover; if you stress them more than that, you're putting your body under too much strain. It will start to break down," he says.

Intensity, on the other hand, is more difficult quality to pin down because most of us doesn't know the amount we can actually take. And most people, de Mey says, working intensity means sacrificing form. Well, this has been a good input for me so far. So I browse more thinking how I took this magazine for granted in the past with the amount of information that I could get from it.

I also came across with an article entitled "Who Will Build the Best Abs?" This article is about triplets who have the same body type but different workout routines and have been compared who will show the best abs at the end of 8 weeks. The one who won the competition is the one who is doing the most to combust fat. Yes, the one who concentrated on his abs didn't win, in fact it only makes the abs bigger but didn't burn nor reduce the body fat at all so still you can't see any good results. The winner, on the other hand, combines cardiovascular and strenght training that's why he got the best results. The cardiovascular training helps reduce body parts and the weights helps building muscles. But according to the article, cardio training is for overweight men but once you're fairly lean, your body doesn't respond as dramatically to burning a few hundred calories in 30 minutes. So for best results addtional weight training, along with some occasional high-intensity sprint workouts, would make a difference for most of us.

Meat Murders Fat

Now it's time for the Get Back in Shape (New Year's Revolution) part of the magazine which includes the How to Survive Layoff article. I've been anticipating for this part of the article because I really want a come back. To get my shape and form back. I started reading. I somehow felt sad because according to the article if the layoff is more that 6 months my status would be a biginner once again. Sigh. I have to think of my body as a completely deconditioned blob of ectoplasm even if it doesn't look quite bad to the naked eye - well double or triple bad news for me because it's pretty scarry for the naked eye.

Fortunately, a certain Juan Carlos Santana, a trainer and owner of Institute for Human Performance, believes yu can easily get back to where you are once belonged in 12 to 18 weeks, as long as you stick to a disciplined schedule. One must have firm goal. So I think that I have to have a goal and stick with it to get back in shape. For example, as stated in the article, during the prime of XFL career (4 weeks) you did squats using 225 pounds, and assuming you want to become strong enough to work with that kind of weight again. Below are some routines that will help us to get back on shape:

  • First 4 to 6 weeks: Work up to 60% of your final goal for 8 to 10 repititions. So by the end of this period, you want to do squats with 135. Where you start is up to you, although 40 to 50 percent is a safe choice.

  • Second 4 to 6 weeks: Work up to 80% of your goal to 6 to 8 repititions. So you start this period using 135 pounds and end it using 180.

  • Third 4 to 6 weeks: Start with 80% and end with 100% of your goal for 4 to 6 repititions.

  • Think first

Well, I'll be back in Manila 3 days time and I'm going to head straight back on the gym the next day of course with a goal in mind. I'll try what I've read in the articles and of course ask the gym intructors what program would best fit me because I don't want to get to big and become bulky. I just want to stay fit, slim, and well toned.

Let's go to articles which concerns proper food and diet this time. I came across an article entitled "Slimming Lessons" by Thomas Incledon, M.S., R.D. In here he discussed 9 dietary rules that he presented years ago and made revisions. Here are the following rules:

  • To lose weight, you must cut calories: You still have to eat fewer calories than you burn if you want to lose weight. The perfect weight-loss diet is the one you can live with, whether you cut fat, carbs, or some combination.

  • Use whey to cut waist: Protein-rich food put more distance between hanger pangs. And the fuller you feel between meals, the easier to avoid binges. The best food for appetite destruction: whey protein.

  • Meat kills fat: When you eat, your body has to expend calories to digest food. Protein causes inner fiber to burn the hottest, followed by carbohydrates, followed by fat.

  • Remember these letters BCAA: Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, and the branched-chain amino acids - leucine, isoleucine, and valine - are the best of the bunch. BCAAs are as close to magicfoods as we'll gonna get. They help you recover from hard workouts by reducing the protein breakdown within your muscles.

  • If it's fryin', you're drying: Don't eat junk foods. Ok?!

  • Food goes farther with fiber: Fiber's effect is opposite of snack foods'. When you have fiber in your stomach, food takes longer to enter the bloodstream, and your blood-sugar level stays steady. You'll have a more consistent energy supply and less between-meal hunger.

  • Count on calcium: Dairy and other calcium-rich food help you stay lean, prevent osteoporosis, and possibly prevent colon cancer according to nutrition researchers. A cup of milk will do which contains 300 milligrams because the recommended intake is up to1,200 ml only. But remember too much calcium may increase the risk of prostate cancer.

  • Alpha males use omega-3 fats: Less risk of heart desease and diabetes and reduce inflammation throughout the body. If you can't each fish twice a week, try eaggs with high omega-3 (can be found in label on the tray).

  • Make a plan: Include the following on your plan:

  • 1) Meals and snacks are based on some lean protein source.
    2) More meals are better than fewer. Ideal is 5 or 6 meals a day.
    3) Low-fat and high-fat diets can both work, but one that cuts almost all fat is doomed.
    4) Eat best carbohydrates like fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

    Just a thought

Well, there are a lot of things to do and remember but one step at a time will probably do than doing nothing at all. I am not going to promise anything but I'm going to do my best to get back in shape. I'll keep you posted for the progress of my combat to lose weight and stay fit once agian.

Neil Gaiman and Fully Booked Comic Book Contest

Earlier on the month of December, I was informed by a friend that Fully Booked and Neil Gaiman is having a Comic book writing contest and he told me that he wasn't sure of the guidelines so I have to go to Fully Booked to ask for it. I totally forgot about it because I'm too busy preparing my things and ticket to go home to the province for the Holidays. Then, just this very moment I decided to open my blog and put some entry before the year ends, I decided to greet friends through their blogs. I came acros Gerry Alanguilan's blog and I saw a link of the contest. I then remembered what my friend told me so I tried to open the site but I just can't register because it always says "Page Cannot Be Found." So I decided to try to join the contest by going to Fully Booked and register there by myself in person instead of registering online.

I want to try to join and try my luck. Who knows I might win! Hehehe. Though I know that it would be a very hard competition because they are really talented Filipinos out there waitting to be discovered and Contest and Opportunities like this will showcas the "Totoong Galing ng Pinoy,"

Even if I will not make it or won't be able to join, I will still try to make the best of it and try to create a good story.

Below is the guideline that I've saved from one of Gerry's blog readers. Just click this link for the Contest Guideline. Wish us all the best!!! Go Pinoy!!!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

We all wear read including Kutchie (extended family member)
All of us wear red. My parents, my brothers, my sister, Tata (our scholar) and even Kutchie and Thomas the bears. This is for good luck according to my mom for the year to c0me. We enjoyed our simple New Year Celebration because we are complete once again unlike last year when I have to go back to Manila after Christmas because of work. It just feel good to be home.

Our simple celebration started with pressing the horns of our vehicles, using the torotot, jumping for growing tall, throwing coins inside the house and hugging and kissing each other while greeting Happy New Year to each one of us. Then, the confettis were thrown and the wine drinking. Then we ate. After that we take pictures and drink some more wine and beer.

We do have a great time and all of us enjoyed even if our celebration was simple. What's important is all of us where there and we are Happy and blessed by God.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

    Profile Viewed 122 times!!!

I just opened my friendster and checked my profile and I noticed that it has been viewed 122 times. Woah, this is the first time for me to actually reach the 100th mark and it exceeded by 22 views. Well this might be someting normal for other who were viewed beyond a thousand but this is unusual for me. Hmmm, maybe because it Christmas and they just remembered me. I hope so. Hehehe, let's see if I can maintain this number even if I think I would.

    Durian Ice Cream

One of my all time favorite fruit is Durian and Durian ice cream is my all time favorite ice cream. Way back in Manila, I just can't locate Durian Ice Cream and even if I look anywhere there's no available one. Even in hotels whenever my parents visit me in Manila, they still don't serve that flavor. I would tell my friends about it, how it taste and how it makes me feel so happy. They got curious even those who didn't like the fruit because of the smell wanted to taste the Durian ice cream. Until one day I was informed that Durian ice cream is only available in Mindanao. That's when I stopped looking for one.

Upon arriving at Davao International airport, I was fetched by my parents and we headed straight at VIctoria Plaza Mall. We met my sister and my tita. I find them near the Guess Kids stall and saw them eating 2 pints of ice cream. My sister was eating Halo-halo flavored ice cream and my tita was eating DURIAN flavored ice cream. Woah!!! I told my tita if she would have me her ice cream because I've been craving for it for years!!! She gave it to me knowing I miss it a lot. The first taste was heaven. The moment it touches my lips I felt I was in cloud number nine. It's just so amazingly taste so damn terrific for me. I finished eating it in a minute so I thought. I just love it.

Upon arriving at Kidapawan I requested for mom to buy a whole galon of DURIAN ice cream. We bought one and it didn't last a day.

    Palengke Day in Kidapawan

My parents and I went to the public market to buy food and stuff that we were not able to buy earlier for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Since it's market day some other vendors were displaying their stuff along the streets and they were a lot them and a lot of buyers too. The next pictures shows the different kind of tuyo or dried fish that can be found in our market place here in Kidapawan. Most of the tuyo shown in the pictures were not available in Manila. The Manileños won't even believe me when I told them the different varities of tuyo that we offered here in Kidapawan because they told me that those kind of fishes are to vailable to be made into dried fish - like Lapu-lapu. I told them that we do have them and it's expensive too. I told them that I would bring some in Manila after the holidays when I'll be back.

Anyways, while touring the palenke I was able to find the finger-like carrots that I've been looking for too long back in Manila. So I bought a lot for salad. I love those kind of carrots because you don't need to slice them just prepare it nice and clean and put it in your salad and alas it's ready to be eaten. Hehehe I did ate a lot of salad during the Noche Buena.

    Frogs (Frog Prince), Snoopy atbp...

Me and my mom displayed some of our collections for the New Year Celebration. Maybe for good luck and being prosperous for the year to come. First, we take out our Frog collections from the cabinets and displayed them in our sala. Well for those who didn't know, I love frogs. I just like them, though the live version were not appealing to me. My friends in college knew that I love frogs. They even give me a Baki for a nick name which meant frog in visayan dialect. I don't know if I just influence my mom or she just love them too because she collects them too. Hmmm, maybe I am a Frog Prince after all but I don't need the princes cuase I'm already handsome as you see hahaha. The prince part? Hmmm, i might need a princess for that in the future I think.

Second, I also displayed my Snoopy Collections. All of them were toys that come with the McDonald's Happy Meal. Hehehe I remembered that I would even bought Happy Meals for my friends just to complete my collection. My favorite Happy Meal is the Burger McDo Happy Meal and I would exchange the burger McDo for a regular Hamburger because of the onions and pickles even if I would wait for a couple of minutes just to prepare them. My little brother, Spikey, plays with them all the time thats why some of my Snoopy's lost their hats. :(

Lastly, all the stuffed toys in our house wearing red color were also displayed. That's why we had to change Kutchie's clothes and have him wear his red rain coat instead. All our dog and horse toys and figurines were also taken out from the cabinets to be displayed.

That's my brother Spikey with Thomas the bear. Both of them wear red for the New Year celebration. Well, I hope we all get the luck that we needed for the year to come and of course God's blessings and guidance as well.

    Gonzales Reunion

CW: Myking, me, Ading, Labing, Epoy, Butchik and Kenjie
Last Dec. 29, 2005, my mom's side of the family (Gonzales) decided to meet up after a very long time. Though some were no able to attend because of the "distance" we were still able to have the time of our lives.

Me and my brothers and sister left the house at about 5:55pm because it's raining and we were waiting for our dad to fetch us and send us to Don Henri's Bar for the reunion. After the rain is gone we decided to go ourselves because we were already late. Of course, we were afraid to be scolded adn be late to the party. My sister, Labing, says (trying to copy our tita Even's expression) "Pagkatibay jud ninyong mga bataa oi." Which means we were so tough of not following her earlier instructions to be there as early as 4pm. We laughed though we were a bit scared because we don't want to upset her.

Upon arriving at the area and saw our tita Even, she just greeted us casually. We were stunned because we didn't expect that kind of reaction from her. We were imagining of a more scarry type of greeting but she was so friendly. Then, we told her about what we were expecting and she just laughed at us.

    Close up daw

Then the program begun and we were introduced to the different members of the family. We ate a lot. My, there were so much food. I ate a total of 12 fresh lumpia hahaha. Yes, I just can't have enough of it. Then we played videoke and the highest points received will win. My brother Epy won the game. Then all picked their songs and we ended at about 2am the next day.

    another pose

We had so much fun. And we all hope that next all other members of the family will be able to make it this time.

    Reaching heights...
    Together free...
This secret journey we have to take...
Leads us where we must be...
    Entangled w/ each others might...
We're set to be where we should be...
    11 means a starting line...
Hope to be where we should be...

    Bar-b-q

I just love eating street food. Now I like to eat bituka ng pig, bilog, tenga, and pork's meat barbecues. I just can't help eating it. I love how those barbecues were being prepared. Like fishballs, whenever I saw a stand where they sell barbecues, I usually order. I make sure that I dip it in vinegar for a long time to enhance the taste before I eat it. Maybe these foods are one of the reasons why I'm gaining weight rapidly. Well, what can I do I just love them.
