Coloring Adam Hughes' Lineart

I'm a fan of Art Nouveau and I saw that Adam Hughes has a lineart using the said style so I decided to try coloring it.

Disclaimer: This is just a trial so I am not claiming the original lineart of Mr. Hughes. I just want to color it.

So here it is:

I did not put so much details on the piece of cloth so that it won't get the attention away from the main image.

I had fun coloring it so I hope you like how it turned out.

Bittersweet

I thought that life had had enough of playing with me but then again I've been proved wrong. All the while I thought that I it would be the time finally settle and be contended on what life is offering me of the moment. I got myself a good job, a good relationship, and comics on the side. It's almost perfect - from the moment I wake up 'til I sleep late at night. I can't complain and I thank God for that.

Never did I think that fate has something else in store for me. I've been receiving a lot of calls lately from different companies offering me jobs. I didn't think twice of refusing them. Then one fateful day something happened that caught me off-guard. I decision that I have no power to do on my own. I'm barely hanging in a balance and no matter hard I'll try I know that I won't make it yet deep down inside me something is yelling to me to hold on no matter what because there's still a chance. I called out to heavens for guidance and to help me accept no matter what the outcome may be.

Like a swift wind suddenlly passed me by unknowingly, I fell. I didn't make it. I lose. Suddenly it felt like pitch black surrounding me. Then I saw the light. Even though I fail, I heard God's whispered to me. Telling me that it's Ok. That I would be fine and He was just preparing something big for me. If I will hold on to my faith in Him or just succumb to the pain that fate have cost me. I might have lost everything at this moment but I do not fear for I know I am not alone - at least not physically.

I've learned my lessons well and I sure am going to use it in the future knowing that I have become stronger. Better. Thank you Lord for everything,

How I draw at Home

I am renting a small space and all my tables are filled with so many things. When I draw, I usually sat down the floor and flex my knees so I could use my legs as a support for my drawing board. However, there was so much work at the office right now because we are targeting a timeframe to finish the animated series Fantastic Four ( for us to start with Spider-Man feature animation by mid June this year) so I have to bring a lot of drawings at home. Below is the innovative way on how I address my problem of not having a drawing table/light box.

I use my Harry Potter Book 5, the Witching Hour novel, M&M's bucket, P910i box and Laptop box as my stand. Then, I bought a glass to be my table top and use two lamps for the lights.

When the lights are turned on, an instant light box and a drawing table in one. It's hard to draw this way though but I get use to it after a while.

I am still drawing this way and I kind of liking it. But when I will be able to raise money, I would be able to have my drawing table with light box design created.

Spidey

We will be wrapping up Fantastic 4 by June to start Spider-man. Wohoo, I'm so excited.

I know

If you've been wondering what's happening to me for the past 3 months, I just got busy. After the holidays I went back to Manila (from Kidapawan) and I joined the 1st Aid Training and Basic Life Support from Red Cross Quezon City chapter. The training took about 7 days. The whole training period was whole lot of fun. I enjoyed every minute of it. Especially the last day wherein there was a simulation of what might actually happen if grave situation arises. It was so exhausting and a bit confusing. It was really hard that's why I've got a much higher respect to all the volunteers who are always putting their lives on the line saving other people's butt. It was not an easy task and it requires a lot of effort from you. I graduated the training and gained myself, not only licenses for the 1st Aid Training and Basic Life Support, a whole new perspective of the importance of life.

Sunwoo Animation Philippines is currently on hiatus because there is no current production of new show since "I Got A Rocket" wrapped up last December. They might start a new show on May, however, it is not still confirmed because Sunwoo didn't even announce the title if the so called new show. There were also rumors that only lay-out and animation will be done here in the Philippines and the clean-up (CU) and in-between (IB) will be on Korea. If that will be the case all of us home grown talents will be out of job. Good thing though is that our contract ended last February 6, 2007 so we are free to look for new studios. I heared some artist went to Toon City, Top Draw, Toon Hub, DQ and others I forgot. In my case I just finished "The Land Before Time" at Toon City and currently working on "Fantastic 4" which I will be discussing next.

"Fantastic 4" show is one of the best show I've ever done since. The style is realistic and it helps me a lot as an artist. It was hard but I have so much fun drawing all the characters and the scenes they are in. The hardest to draw among the 4 main character is "Thing" because his skin is rock so his a bit confusing to draw especially in doing IB. I also love drawing "Iron Man" and "Susan." I think my drawing skills now is a bit honed, still very far from perfect but I will get there someday, and there are a lot of perspective and foreshorteing to consider. I am taking my time in every drawing I create so that I can learn as much as I can. This project makes me excite to work everyday. I am no longer after of how much I will be earning, which is very good by the way, but how much I will be learning. I am just so much happy with this show.

Apart from animation, I am also busy applying for a job in IT and engineering because the pay I'm getting from the previous shows isn't enough. Even if I love animation, I still have to eat, pay the rent, help my family so I need to look for a greener pasture. I decided to go back to IT and engineering, I have a lot of offers and I choose to work with BPI (I will be starting on April 3, 2007). It was not the company who offered the biggest amount but looking at the benefits and the career path it was the one who has the brightest light at the end of the tunnel. So I grab the chance to be a part of the company and I will be starting soon. No, I won't leave animation and comics. I can still get folders to draw from the "Fantastic 4" show during Friday night to Sunday night and I can always spare 3 to 4 hours of creating comics and web designs every day.

Speaking of comics, it's been a while since I wasn't been able to buy new copies of the titles that I collect. I am not so active with the world of comics (so sorry to all the Komikeros if I ever make you feel being neglected because of the stuff I already told you thru e-mail) but Paper Clip Komics is definitely still active. I already finished my story and so does Canave (Ruel and Mye, your promise ha). I am currently experiencing a problem with the printing because my contact person told me that the machine isn't working still and I can't find other printers that would give the same quality at a trift price. I hope the machine will get fix or I could find a replacement. I will be announcing the release of the next issue soon.

I am also currently waiting when my drawing/animation table will be created so that I can go back drawing "Bulong" because I find it hard to draw sitiing on the floor, flexing my knees so that I can use my legs as a support for my drawing board. Yes, that's how I draw since I went back to Manila after working in Baguio last 2005. I put the project on hold for too long already and I bit embarrass with the author. I am glad he understand thinking that the novel isn't finish yet. I am also trying to work with Pao (for a special project), she was interrested for me to translate her short story in the form of comics. She was not sending me her manuscript yet because she was not able to go back to Las Pinas because she was very preoccupied with her upcoming marriage to Aljude. I still have to wait for the script.

I am also having weight issues. I've been gaining weight since I started working in animation last year. Maybe because of the lifestyle. I've been sitting and drawing all through the day til wee hours seven days a week. I still have the same food intake but my physical activities has been entirely gone so my metabolism slows and I got fat everyday. One of the requirements in working with BPI is for you to be physically fit (class A). I took the medical exam and all results are satisfactory except for my BP which is elevated. I have it rechecked and it out that I have a normal BP. During the first check up I didn't rest after walking to Shang Rila Mall from Megamall and walking up the stairs up to the 5th level where the clinic is located. Even if my BP is normal, it was on line verge of the thin line that separates the normal and high BP so I started jogging and eating less rice. I lose 8 lbs on the first 3 weeks and gained 1 lb and it stays there. However, "Fantastic 4" requires a lot of time nowadays so I wasn't able to jog for 2 weeks now. I promise I will find time for my physical routine to lose more weight and become healthy once again (as I used to be).

That's for now, just in case you're wondering my absence in the world of blogging.

P.S.

Please do pray for my friend Andro who will be undergoing under the knife tomorrow at the Imus Medical Hospital. Also pray for his mom's battle against TB.

Yahoo? Blogspot?

Is there something wrong with Yahoo site? I can't seem to connect to the said site. I also tried checking on my blogger site, I can't connect to it but I was able to log on to blogger and type this message. Weird.

Well I guess I just have to wate for it to "come back" again because our local subscriber here in the province that they've been encountering the same problem since 10 am this morning and they were informed that it had something to do with the quake in Taiwan. Funny because I was still using those sites 'till 1 pm today. Whatever.

I'll wait then.

My Mobile

Mom bought dad and I a mobile phone. Dad got a Sony Ericsson P990i and I have the P910i. If you click above (P990i) and below (P910i) image it will link you directly to GSMArena where you can find it's features. P990i is a 3G phone unlike P910i. I am happy with my new mobile phone.
I already downloaded some applications over the internet for my phone like Hand Day 2005, Mobipocket Reader and Blackberry. I had so much fun exploring the phone and personalizing it. There's so much more that I have to know about this unit. After installing the PC Suite in my computer I discovered more about the phone. I think it will take me a little while before I fully familiarize with this phone.

There are a lot of applications out there that I could install my P910i like screep capture, themes (I need theme editor so if you have one please send me one), and a lot more.

Well, that's for now. I'll go back in exploring the phone now.

Harriet Klausner

Here's an article that I'd like to share from Time Magazine by Lev Grossman:

Without the web, Harriet Klausner would be just an ordinary human being with an extraordinary talent. Instead she is one of the world's most prolific and influential book reviewers. At 54, Klausner, a former librarian from Georgia, has posted more book reviews on Amazon.com than any other user—12,896, as of this writing, almost twice as many as her nearest competitor. That's a book a day for 35 years.

Klausner isn't paid to do this. She's just, as she puts it, "a freaky kind of speed-reader." In elementary school, her teacher was shocked when Klausner handed in a 31⁄2-hour reading-comprehension test in less than an hour. Now she goes through four to six books a day. "It's incomprehensible to me that most people read only one book a week," she says. "I don't understand how anyone can read that slow."

Klausner is part of a quiet revolution in the way American taste gets made. The influence of newspaper and magazine critics is on the wane. People don't care to be lectured by professionals on what they should read or listen to or see. They're increasingly likely to pay attention to amateur online reviewers, bloggers and Amazon critics like Klausner. Online critics have a kind of just-plain-folks authenticity that the professionals just can't match. They're not fancy. They don't have an agenda. They just read for fun, the way you do. Publishers treat Klausner as a pro, sending her free books—50 a week—in hopes of getting her attention. Like any other good critic, Klausner has her share of enemies. "Harriet, please get a life," someone begged her on a message board, "and leave us poor Amazon customers alone."

Klausner is a bookworm, but she's no snob. She likes genre fiction: romance, mystery, science fiction, fantasy, horror. One of Klausner's lifetime goals—as yet unfulfilled—is to read every vampire book ever published. "I love vampires and werewolves and demons," she says. "Maybe I like being spooked." Maybe she's a little bit superhuman herself.

I'm Going Home

I'll be going home tomorrow. My flight is at 4:20 am via Cebu Pacific Air. Upon arriving the Davao international airport, I'll go straight to the bus terminal. I may be arriving Kidapawan at about 9:00 or 10:00 am. I'm so excited to go home. There's no place like home.

Unproductive

I've been unproductive for about a week now. There seems to be so much going on. The brewing war b/n humans and not-so-humans in the office, the confusion amongst the artists, the lack of feedback from my groupmates, the very painstakingly difficult job training I've been having, almost lack of sleep, emotional turmoil, weight issue, and so much more. I wanted to break free but I can't cause everythings must be dealt with - fast. I can't focus on one because everything needs so much attention. Waaaahhhhh. I'm running out of cash (I think nothing's left of me, hmmm). It's official I'm poor and almost exhausted. Thanks to God, whenever I close my eyes it seems that He tells me that I can do it. I hope so and I know that even if I've been calling for His aid almost every minute He doesn't got tired of me. So, Oh, what I'm still doing here. Bye for now, got loads of stuff to do.

Options

Here I am once again wherein I would have to choose one among the many probable paths that I have to take. Whichever I choose would make a huge impact on my future. Choosing one would mean forgetting the others. If I won't choose then I will go nowhere and just keep on spinning inside this void of emptiness I built around myself. It's been a month now and I have yet to deside. The longer I choose the more depress I become. Sometimes It's really hard to let go and it sucks big time.

I Got A Rocket!!!

I am one of the clean-up and in-between artist for this show. Wow I am so proud of it!!!

Here's the official I Got a Rocket website: http://www.igotarocket.com/

Here are the list of Characters: The Characters

Here's what the show's about:

It's July. The hottest month on record and in the inner-city, where eleven year old Vincent Q lives, it's so hot, the pavement is smoking! July should be Vinnie's favourite month, as along with his gang of pals, Vinnie celebrates his birthday! (that's why they're known as the July Gang) But this year peace-loving Rainbow, crazy Ritter, wannabe actor Barlow and country bumpkin Gabby are dreading it. See, they've got a problem. Two words: NEW ... NEIGHBOURS. Three more words: THE ... DUCKY ... BOYS!

You've no doubt heard of the Ducky Boys. Scuds, Rags and Biffo. Even their names sound mean! They've just moved to Vinnie's block. Now thanks to Vinnie's big mouth, the Ducky Boys have their sights set on tormenting the July Gang. And Vinnie can't run to his big sister Crystal for help. Vinnie's life seems over. That is, until on Vinnie's birthday, his scientist Dad gave him something way cool. Very cool in fact. For his birthday, Vincent Q ... GOT A ROCKET!

Packed full of artificial intelligence, Rocket is not only the ultimate-space-transport-for one. He's Vinnie's new best friend, big brother and guardian ... all rolled into one big hunk of tin! Plus, having been created in July he's a fully-fledged July Gang member! But with a pal like Rocket comes responsibility. He may be hi-tech but when it comes to human problems, desires or wishes...he's no genius. Rocket could be the solution to all Vinnie's problems - or so he thinks. The Ducky Boys aren't afraid. Far from it! They want Rocket for themselves!

Based on the popular picture book, seen above, by Matt Zurbo and Dean Gorissen, 'I Got a Rocket!' the animated series is a fresh and fun series about Vinnie and his gang of friends, the July Gang, who's latest recruit just happens to be a fully-functioning Rocket with Artificial Intelligence - although there's some debate on just how intelligent he is!

To Vinnie, his Dad and the July Gang, Rocket is another kid - although of course his 'rocket-ness' does mean he's very different. He's the only kid in class who gets his own rocket fuel truck at lunchtime for starters. While he may be super-fast, he's not super-punctual - which drives Dad nuts. Rocket may be a Rocket, but he goes through many of the trials and tribulations that Vinnie goes through, from school to Ducky Boys. Although when Rocket gets a crush, it's on a fridge....lookout!

Set in a colourful but gritty urban environment, 'I Got a Rocket' features colourful characters that reflect the melting-pot of the city. Episodes mix kid relatable stories about Vinnie and July Gang's lives, from school troubles to sibling rivalry with Crystal who's not happy when Vinnie's life crosses roads with hers! All with a ROCKET twist. Then of course there's the constant threat of the Ducky Boys. Vinnie may have thought Rocket could be the solution to his problems but while he loves having Rocket around, he sure does complicate things!

It's a tough life being a kid - even tougher when your best pal is a Rocket!

Exhausted

I'm feeling a bit tired for the entire week. Maybe because I push myself too hard for the Komikon 2006 event and I didn't give enough time to have my body rest even for a brief moment. Well the result seemed to be bad because it affected my day job and other projects that I've bee doing. Even if I feel sore and tired I was able to finish my scripts for issue 2 and 3 and been nagging (sorry) the other artists about their scripts for issue 2 of Paper Clip Komiks. I'm really exhausted and I need to rest somehow.

I'm very occupied too in thinking about my application as ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) Engineer. If I'm going to accept it or not because accepting it would mean I'll be working in Norway. I'll be away for at least 2 years for deep water explortion in the northern sees. Exciting? Yes. Sad? Yes. Well the good thing is I will be able to continue creating comics and send it here in Manila because they do have 24-hour internet access and we are allowed to use it during our free time. I haven't decided yet and I hope whatever my decision is would be the best one. Having in mind that I'm barely living here in Manila. The money I earn everyweek is just enough for food and transporation everyday and I need to look for extra income just to be able to pay rent. Hard? Yes. Sad? Not really. It's really hard to decide, at least for me.

Sigh.

Inspiration

Komikon 2006 came and went but the memories remain. Elmer and Jofel are my officemates who when to the event and they were both very happy about it. Their experienced were truly be cherished.

The next day I came to the office with copies of my Indies. I sell it to some of my officemates and I was overwhelmed by how they responded with our Indies. They actually have their copies signed and have their photos taken with me. I am over the moon. I really didn't expect their reactions. It was a good feeling, great even.

Then one by one, after reading the Indies they bought from me, they came and told me that my works inspired them to create their own Indies and they told me that they would be joining the next Komikon (which is on 2007) and probably selling their own Indies. They also told me that it's a good thing that I started creating Indies and showed it to them because otherwise they won't be inspired in creating their own Indies. They also informed me to post more announcements on my cork board so that they'll know what events regarding comics, toys and the like to expect.

I am very happy that I was able to inspire my officemates (who are all artists for 2D animation) to create their own Indies. I was able to spark their lost passion for the medium. It's a great feeling to be an inspiration. I told them to do their thing and do whatever that would make them able to express themselves thru comics because in Indies there are no boundaries and rules. You're not restricted so it's total freedom to be you. I also told them to create their Indies today because Komikon is just oine event and there are a couple more events to show their crafts life Toycon, Sci-fi-con and others. I'm so excited to see their works and it makes me happy.

I expect on the next Komikon, new breeds will surely showcase their talents. Oh I'm looking forward to it.

The Komikon 2006 Report Part 02

After the Komikon 2006 had been officially opened, few people were already buying our indies and it's very overwhelming for us. They've asked for our autographs and we gladly signed them. We really enjoyed it a lot especially for Ruel because this was his 1st time to sell his indie comics.

Josel, Ruel and Elmer

An hour or so had passed when Ruel received as SMS from Mylene informing him that they are already outside the venue and they are very excited to join us in our indie booth. Mylene is with Shobee (who came all the way from Germany) and a couple of her friends. They greeted us and we barely talked because Ruel and I were very busy attending people who bought and browsed our indies.

Ruel and Mylene

I've told Ruel and Mye to eat lunch early because I'll be leaving by 2 pm. My parents and my brother Spikey came all the way from Kidapawan City so I have to see them. It's rare opportunity for me to see them here in Manila so I really have to use all the time they're here to be with them. I only got to see them once or twice a year.

Mye and Shobee

After Ruel and Mye finished their lunch I instructed them what to do. I tried to roam around the venue for a while just to visit booths and people. Looking at some of their works and saying "hi" and "hello" to peole I seldom meet. Then I left the event and headed straight to the hotel were my parents and my brother stayed.

I really enjoyed Komikon 2006. More people, more booths and lots of indies and artists. Though I haven't got any photo of myself during the event, the memories that I've had will surely be remembered.

Onward Filipino artist!!!

The Komikon 2006 Report Part 01

I arrived at the venue (Bahay ng Alumni, UP Diliman Campus) 30 minutes past 7 with my officemate Elmer (who is one of the marshalls). The Komikon '06 staffs were already there. Hi's and hello's then we started preparing the area for the event.

I had a chat with Ariel Atienza regarding his future projects and my own projects and where I am it leading to. I talk about Paper Clip Komics and my peers who'll be taking the indie journey with me. This and that.

Jonas Diego greeted me while I'm preparing our indie booth for the Indie Tiangge. We chatted for quite a moment. He'd changed a lot. Wow! His company seemed to be doing very well. They (IAS) were one of the event's sponsors and they'll be having a contest: Lead Slinger Challenge. And oh, with his people around, I hardly see him joking around. Well it's been a while and those were the days.

Then Ruel Sarmiento (Third World Project) came and he was escourted by Elmer. He seemed to be so excited as this was his debut in indie scene. I am sure he will be doing just fine. He'd evolved a lot as a storyteller and as an artist. Keep it up!

Then Gerry Alanguilan came with Ilyn and komikero Zara a few moments before the start of the event. Then followed by many more exhibitors, guests and sponsors.

Ruel let me borrowed his camera so I starter shooting photos to people like Jonas, Ilyn, Zara, Gerry, Wilson, David, Gilbert, Ariel, Reno and ang dami pang iba, while he had our Paper Clip Komics banner printed out.

Then the Komikon 2006 officially started by Syeri (organizer of thr event) and the people went wild (crazy kind of wildness - therefore we are!).

2nd part of the report coming soon (with photos)...

I'll Always be a Comic Fan

Yesterday I went to the opening of Comic Odessey at Robinsons Galleria. I went there with my officemate Elmer and my pals Ruel and Mylene. I went there a bit earlier and tried to browse for some great finds. And I found a lot (but can't buy because of I don't have enough cash - alright I don't have extra money to spend for my hobbies). I enjoyed browsing and looking at the covers.

A few minutes later, the guests arrived. There were Gerry and Ilyn, Wilson, Carlo, Ed, Huet and Lienil came later. Just seeing them lights up my mood. I'm so proud of what they've achieved. So proud of what they still have to offer. I have my comic book signed and asked fo sketches. It's was all fun.

Among the artists, I find Gerry and Wilson easy to converse with. In Gerry's case maybe because ever since I joined Komikero he's been very accomodating and very welcoming. He doesn't put any barriers or some kind. It makes me feel more proud of him. Proud that he' a friend even. Though I've known him for quite a while, I still put high regard on him and what he does. He's just awesome and I'll always be his fan. Thanks for the sketch!!!

Wilson, on the other hand, is very down to earth. He's so humble. He likes to converse. Everytime he signs a book, he always find time to discuss how the book came to be. It makes you feel how the artist created it. Learn how passionate he is with his craft (he even shows you how he draws). He's funny and easygoing. He's one of the person that we should look up in an artist. Outgoing, talented and both feet firmly rooted to the ground.

I can't say much for the others though. I just can say they were good. Really good. But Gerry and Wilson are much easier to talk to. Thanks too for the sketch!!!

I also got sketches from the great Lienil and the awesome Carlo. Aren't you proud of them?!

I Need Help...

I would be selling some of my comic collections w/ a discounted price... I'm a bit short of cash right now and in dire need of it (to pay for present obligation)... Below are the titles (I would be selling them in bundles because I'm a bit attached with these comics so it's a pity to sell them individually, at least for me) and their corresponding prices:

- Ultimate 6 #1 to #7 (starring The Ultimates and Ultimate Spider-Man) for Php 891.00

- High Roads #1 to #4 and #6 ( I can no longer find the #5 and #6 was signed by Yu, Alanguilan and Tadeo last dec 2003 during the san pablo comic fest) for Php 800.00

- Supreme Powers #1 to #12 by Straczynski, Fran and Sibal for Php 1,944.00

- Uncanny X-Men #429 to #434 (The Draco 1 to 6) by Austen and Tan for Php 729.00

- New X-Men #146 to #150 (Planet X) by Morrison, Jimenes and Lanning for Php 675.00

- Wolverine Netsuke #1 to #4 by George Pratt for Php 864.00

- Mekanix #1 to #6 starring Shadow Cat by Claremont Borillo, and Sosa (signed by Tadeo for colors) for Php 972.00

- Emma Frost #1 to #6 (Higher Learning) by Bollers, Green, and Ketchum for Php 810.00

- Emma Frost #7 to # 12 (Mind Games) by Bollers, Pagulayan, and Crisistomo for Php 945.00

- Superman Red Son #1 to #3 (Else world) by Millar, Johnson, Robinson, Wong, Mounts, and Plunkett
I would also be selling some TPB's...

- Xtreme X-Men Invasion TPB by Claremont and Larroca for Php 1,080.00 (some probs w/ the binding)

- Xtreme X-Men Destiny TPB by Claremont and Larroca for Php 1,078...

Just send me a note or contact me thru 0915-744-2769 if you are interrested or know a person who would be interrested...

Series of Unfortunate Events

Last Wednesday (08/30/06), I've been encountering a lot of problems and it seems that it won't ever end. I've been delayed in paying the school, I've had problems with the output sheet at the office, end of the month is just a day away (meaning I have to pay the bills), I found out that my ex-gf already have a new bf (I'm happy w/ her though I got a little bit pang of jealousy, even if I'm in a relationship too), and some issue w/ my family. I was really stressed. That day seemed not to end at all.

After office and school I went to Baclaran (about past 12 mn) for my weekly novena (which by the way my panata to ask Mama Mary to help me ask God about some favors). After the novena I ate and went to 7/11 for slurpee. Then, it's time for me to go home since it was 2 am already. There were 2 buses in queue, though in my heart I wanted to ride the 2nd bus but my mind told me that it's already 2 am and I need to go home fast. So I choose the 1st bus on the line. Then it started it's engine. Off we go.

The journey went well except when the bus stop in Ortigas (Crossing) to fetch passengers. It's been 10 minutes already and yet the bus still stayed there (even if the buses behind have been pressing their horns to tell the bus to go already). Finally the bus started to go but there were about 6 guys entered the bus hurriedly and the seated differently and been staring at each other from time to time. I tried to look back at the passengers behind me because there were too much noise. Then I saw one of the guy been clasping something and trying to hide it. I began to worry so I seated more closer to the window. But seeing the guy and knowing that he might do something to the other passenger (who by the way is not part of the guys who just entered hurriedly at the crossing) seated at the back, I look back again to know if he's ok. This time I saw one of the guy (not the guy I saw holding something) already stood up and holding a knife and he saw me staring at him so he went to me instead of the other passenger. He tried to grab my back but I've been holding it tightly he were not able to get it away from me. He then pushes me into the aisle and the other guy (I saw earlier holding something in his palm) hold me by the shoulder and 3 other guys stood up from the front side of the bus. They hold my legs and twist my wrist (I've been covering my pockets to prevent them from getting my stuffs). The other guy tried to get my shoe and their hands are alover me in no time. They were able to reach inside my pants from foot to knee. Then they fled (near MegaMall Bldg. A) leaving me standing at the middle of the bus, startled and disoriented. People staring at me as if I'm a lunatic w/o offering any help nor assistance.

So I took a seat and found out I've already lost my phone, my wrist sores and my foot hurts. The first thing that crosses my mind is that I thank God for keeping me safe because some other victims are not lucky enough to be alive after that kind of situation.

I've been thinking, for the rest of the journey, that why the other passengers didn't offer any assistance upon seeing the obvious. I've been complaining the whole incident that I'm hurting yet they just don't respond. Is that a common occurrence that they are already used to it? Or they just fear that they might be hurt if they lend a hand? After my stop, I take a last glance at the people at the bus, they just go on as if nothing happens.

Luckily, I still have another phone which I recently brought back to life after buying a spare battery but I lost all my contacts (and it's b/w and doesn't have a camera nor memory card but I'm still lucky, aren't I?) I still have my bag and my wallet (which is empty by the way, hammy do they have a way of knowing if it's empty or not?) and my sanity still there.

I send an SMS to my mom and told her what happen. She just said, "Thanks that your OK." I'm quite well now though I'm still having a flashback on what had happened that day. I still believe that it happens for a purpose and God would provide me what I've lost and so much more. I'm happy that I'm still here and be able to share this unhappy yet very informative event. So just always be ready and don't try to struggle. Just give them what they want if it meant drying if you won't.

P.S.

I've had a couple of problems with that area before. One would be the rugby boys and girls who makes the area under the overpass a haven of their addiction. Almost every afternoon I've seen lots of kids having a rugby (not the game) session. I've already told the authorities about it yet nothing happens. God, why do they have to be so blind about it. They know it yet they pretend they don't. For Christ's sake, it's their damn duty and obligation. They when I reported the incident to my boss, I found out that there were a lot of us in the office who have been victims of the same kind of robbery. They also report it and yet victims seems to add up in numbers in days. And yet the authorities remain silent w/o doing a damn thing. Sad? Yes? Funny? Definitely not.

7 Pencillers That I'm Currently Watching

1) Definetely Joshua Middleton... I like his linework... so clean, especially in his work on "Sky Between Branches" and "NYX." The emotions on each character and yeah perspective, he's good at it...

2) Olivier Coipel... His work on Avengers and House of M blows me away... He's a former animator so maybe that explains his consistency in every character he draws...

3) Jim Cheung of Scion and Young Avengers... I saw his work first on Scion... I was passing by Booksale and saw loads of comic books published by Crossgen and when I browse through Scion, I like his style instantly... The Scion books ranges from Php 5.00 to Php 15.00 so I bought loads of it... His linework is also clean... I like the details he put on the characters, especially on metals and clothes.. His work on Young Avengers #1 really inspires me... He's good also in creating loads of character in a page like Olivier Coipel...

4) Tony Harris of Ex-Machina... Wow!!! I love every panels... He's like Alex Ross who draws from picture... I just like how he interpret the script into art...

5) David Finch of Moon Knight... I've been checking his work since Ultimate X-Men but I was impressed on him in Moon Knight... Well, he's from Image so that's explains all the lines and hatches...

6) Steve Mcniven of Civil War... I don't really like his work on Meridian from Crossgen but when he draws the Fantastic Four, he just became a star

7) Carlo Pagulayan of Planet Hulk... Ever since Emma Frost, I've been collecting his art but Planet Hult blows me away... Especially the scene wherein Hulk fights with Silver Surfer...

So that comprises my list for now....

Freelance! Teacher? Who? Me? Huh?

I've been a freelance for months. I'm into sales, animation, art and even into teaching. The photos below show one of my class in Fort Bonifacio wherein I am instructing my students how to draw (this would probably the 4th batch that I've handled). This subject, basic figure and face drawing, is part of their training program as they elevate their respective ranks as military officers.

Before each class begins, they (my students) always tell me that it's impossible for them to learn drawing at their age but I just told them that if given enough time to learn and appreciate the art, eventually, they'll learn how to do it and might even love the art.

After the class, I'm proud to say that I did teach them well because they were able to draw!!! If they practice some more they would be really great at it. They were even astonished themselves as how much they were able to learn in just a short period of time. I'm proud of them as I am proud of my achievement.

Having these people as students, as I've never would have imagine, was a lot of fun. At first they were so serious but when the lesson begins they were becoming more interrested and throw a lot of questions at you. They were also very interactive and would even respond at my jokes.

Well, it never crossed my mind that teaching would be fun. Maybe it depends on what material you are handling . Being a full time teaching? Nah, I don't think so.

24 Hr Convenience Store

Congrats to my parents for their new business - 24 hr convenience store. They just opened it recently (Aug. 01, 2006). This would be their 4th business together. I'm so proud of them.

The name of the store is 6A. They got the name from me. Way back in high school, when I was creating sketches and drawings, I signed them with 6A. 6A because in Filipino 6 is anim and my family name is Anima , so I just added "a" after the 6. Hmmm when you see the store it should be pronounced as Anima. Nice isn't it.

BTW, my sister's the one who suggested the name after seeing one of my drawing in her room with my signature on it.

That's my mom and my brother Michael. Kind of blurry though, my dad took all the photos and were sent to me via MMS.
