Millau Viaduct In Paris, France

Another e-mail coming from my officemate Charlene I believe worth sharing is her e-mail about Millau Viaduct - a large cable-stayed road-bridge that spans the valley of the River Tarn near Millau in southern France. The bridge connects Paris and Barcelona and is known to be the highest bridge piers in the world. It is 240 meters high (and overall 336 meters high). Below is the photo of the bridge:

Speaking of France, if I’d be able to visit that part of the planet I’ll definitely would want to check Millau Viaduct and have a closer look of it. France, specially Paris is also famous for its architectures and landmarks like Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde, Église de la Madeleine, Basilique du Sacré-Coeur, Opéra Garnier, Notre Dame de Paris, Musée du Louvre, and Luxembourg Palace.

Aside from Paris’ architectures and landmarks, the city is also famous not only because of French Open (one of the world’s most famous tennis tournament) and Artists Quarter but most of all because of Moulin Rouge. Remember the film starred by Nicolde Kidman and Ewan McGregor? Well, Moulin Rouge is actually a traditional cabaret which offers musical adult entertainment for adukt visitors from all over the world. But now, courtesans no longer exist in Moulin Rouge as it became a legitimate nightclub with amazing dancers with exceptional skills.

Paris is also known to be a very romantic city or so I’ve heard (French people are known to be the most romantic on the planet). Most people go there to celebrate their feelings toward their love ones. Just imagine roaming around the city and seeing people spending most of their visit touring the city’s landmarks side-by-side with the people they love, what a sight to behold. Now that most of us are so busy with work, I think it would be best to visit a place like Paris to spend more time with your partner or with your family and remember the good old times.

France in general is well known for it's literature and it has influenced the world so much. Among France's famous writers are Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas and Jules Verne. They produced books like The Three Musketeers, The Count of Monte-Cristo, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, and probably my favorite The Hunchback of Notre-Dame which is also adapted into an animation movie by Walt Disney Pictures. This reason alone is enough for me to visit France.

Whether traveling with your partner or with your family,
hotels in Paris are not hard to look for. In fact you can book at a much cheaper price over the internet that booking right from a travel agency. Hotels in France are available all year round and there are a lot to choose from which varies from apartments to hotels. How I wish to visit Paris someday with my love one and stroll around its famous landmarks and stay at France's nice hotels.

AquaDom in Berlin

I’d like to share to you an e-mail I received from my officemate Charlene. This is about an aquarium, a very special aquarium that can only be seen in Berlin, Germany. Hotels in Berlin are aplenty but it doesn’t stop them in creating another one and place a gigantic aquarium right in the heart of Radisson SAS Hotel. The aquarium is called the AquaDom.

Here are the pictures that accompany the e-mail:

AquaDom is the largest cylindrical aquarium ever built and it is about 25 meters high, has a diameter over 11 meters, built on 9 meters high foundation and filled with about 900,000 liters of seawater and it contains some 2,600 fishes of 56 species. If you are a hotel guest you can see through the aquarium because of its sandblasted glass which gives you a transparent like feeling. There’s more, you can travel through the middle of the aquarium because of its glass-enclosed elevator. Beneath is a restaurant under the aquarium’s glass floor and some rooms look over the atrium to have an ocean feel kind of look at the aquarium. The aquarium has two full-time divers that clean the aquarium interior and feed the fishes. This sight is really breathtaking even in the pictures, how much more if you are really there.

The AquaDom costs about 12.8 million euros and Reynolds Polymer Technology built it. It was open last December 2003.

If given the chance I’d like to visit Berlin, even if you won’t stay at this particular hotel you can still drop by and see the AquaDom. Hotels in Berlin are abundant and you can even have a much cheaper hotel that fits your budget over the net than getting one direct from your local travel agent. You may also visit Vienna if you have extra time and hotels in Vienna are also easy to find over the internet. And mind you, you can save more if you book online and there are a lot of different kinds of hotels in Vienna. Happy trip everyone.

Dreaming Of London

Dreaming of London, yes, I am dreaming of London and I really want to visit the place. I think it is the one of the best places in the world. The mix of ancient and modern eras is very visible in the streets and architecture around the area. The people can express themselves in any way they want (as long as they’re not hurting themselves and others) and are not bounded by undeclared rules and critical eyes of very suspicious people like in most places here in my country. London also homes some of the great people in the world (some are locals and some migrated to the place). I really want to have it check by my own eyes if the place really is what I envisioned it to be.

If you want to visit London,
London accommodation is not a problem as it is available all year round. If you are too busy and always on the go, and find no time to book yourself you can always log online to search for the best London accommodation available. You could even get a much better and cheaper price over the internet as to go to travel agencies. London accommodation is plenty, so it is not a worry.

If I’ll be in London, the places that I wouldn’t want to miss are the following: National Portrait Gallery, St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Tower of London on Thames River, Science Museum, London Eye, National Gallery, British Museum, Tate Modern, Westminster Abbey and of course I’d like to take a peek at the famous London Bridge. If that day will come that I’ll be in London, I’ll definitely makes the most of my stay there.

Dream Tour

If given the chance I’d like to travel around the world and European trip would be the highlight of that dream tour. There is something about Europe that excites me – its culture, tradition and history. Places like London, Dublin, Rome, Barcelona, Prague and some other places in Europe that seems so old and full of mystery. Ancient Europe really intrigues me. When you are there you can day dream all day of being a prince or a chevalier on a mission and you’ll search the whole of Europe just to rescue your princess in distress. Isn’t that exciting?

My aunt Even before moving to the US is fortunate enough to tour some parts of Europe. She said she did have a lot of fun and most people she meet (whether tourists or locals) are really nice to her.
Accommodation was not an issue for they are plenty and so easy to book especially online. She even met another Filipina who now live in Poland and stayed there for a couple of days. It is true that most of Europe is able to preserve their architectures, cultures and traditions but it is now very modern. People there love to party, shop and stroll. Whatever you might need could be found there easily. You name it they got it. She told me that her European tour was a “dream come” true.

Lucky for her she was able to fulfill one of her dreams, as for me I have to be patient. Who knows this dream of mine might come true too.

Next Destination: Amsterdam

If given the chance I would like to visit Amsterdam. I am quite intrigue what’s the city is like. I always here artists love to perform in Amsterdam so I’d like to see for myself the reason why people go there.

I looked up the internet some information about the largest city in the Netherlands.
Amsterdam is known for its canal system. I’d like to ride a boat and roam all over the city through its canal. I can imagine myself in a boat ride in these canals with my love one while listening to a sweet melody. How romantic.

I learned that Amsterdam is the central business district of the Netherlands so this is a very rich city. Not to mention that the city’s stock exchange is part of the world’s oldest stock exchange – the Euronext. I think I am going to enjoy the city if I am going to visit it. It has a very rich culture. And if you are into music, poetry, and plays this city is a must visit for you. Imagine in this city you’ll find the famous work of Rembrandt displayed at the Rijksmuseum. You could also found a museaun there that is dedicated for Van Gogh’s work (Van Gogh stayed at Amsterdam for a while) and in fact it houses the biggest collections of his work. Perhaps, the place that I would really love to visit there is the famous Anne Frank House which you could see stuff dedicated for her and her story. I’d really like to visit Amsterdam someday.

A place to stay or
Amsterdam accomodation is not hard to look for too. In fact, from my research, cheap hotels are just a click of your mouse away. There are lots of discount hotels that gives you the best hotel deals. Well, we can say that if hotels in Amsterdam is out of the budget then a place to stay and much cheaper is not a problem for Amsterdam lodging is abundant in the city. Thanks to the internet.

It’s also not hard to roam arround the city because it is a bicycle-friendly place and you could even rent one. The government also discourages the use of vehicles so it is really safe to use bikes and you won’t fear of accidents that much caused by cars or the like. So without worrying too much about it you could enjoy better your visit to the place. Trip to
Amsterdam would also be a great bonding idea for the entire family.

Trip Down Under

The last time my mom went to Australia, I should have accompanied her but my work, that time, makes it impossible for me to join her on her trip to Australia. After she came back from her trip to Australia she gave me a lot of information about the country and her experiences during her stay there.

I’ve heard a lot about
Australia. Aside from the fact that Australia is the smallest continent, you could find the “The Great Barrier Reef” – the world’s largest coral reef! You could also find the world’s largest monolith in Australia, Mount Augustus. I am also envious of my mom’s photos from her trip to the Land Down Under. She had photos of kangaroos and koalas. She sure had the best time during her stay there.

There are 3 cities that she mentioned worth visiting. Namely
Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Sydney, as my mom told me, has so many people. It is in fact the most populous city in Australia. So you could expect that it is fun to stroll around the city. She also had a photo of her with the famous Sydney Opera House on the background. You cold also find here the oldest university in Australia, the University of Sydney. It is also not hard to find the best place to stay in Sydney. In fact aside from Sydney hotels, there are ranges of different types of place to stay like apartments, condos, and the like. You could even book yourself online. Knowing that we Filipinos like extras, freebies, and free meals, booking online gives you more of these and their prices (accommodation) are even much lower as you book yourself on a hotel directly.

Melbourne, on the other hand, is Australia’s cultural and sporting capital. If you like flowers then Melbourne is the place for you. You could find a lot of parks and gardens in this part of Australia. You could also find here Australia’s largest university – Monash University. Where to stay in Melbourne is not hard to find and in fact if you are in a budget, booking online gives you a wide range of choices, from apartments to 5 star Melbourne hotels. And it is not hard to travel around the city because of its wide network of buses, trams, taxis and trains.

Last city not to forget to visit in Australia is
Brisbane, the third largest city in Australia! This city is for people who love arts and music. In fact, it is one of the best music hotspots in the world. Brisbane hotels are not really hard to look for. You could find the cheapest price of accommodation online. You could also find in Melbourne the famous “The Windmill” which is the oldest building in Queensland. This building is originally intended for grinding grains and punishment for convicts that operated the windmill manually.

If you are planning to go to Australia, try to visit these cities and I’m sure you’ll have the time of your life while exploring these areas like my mom did during her visit.

Into the Bahamas!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Whenever I see a foreign film and whenever they talk about vacation, I hear
Bahamas almost always. They are always looking forward to visit the place and rave so much on how they could relax and have a perfect vacation. I myself got curious as to why and I wish someday I could visit Bahamas too.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

This curiosity leads me in searching the net for more information about
Bahamas. According to my research that it has the clearest water in the world. Hmm this is really something to look forward to. Not to mention that it has the third longest barrier reef in the world and the entire island is made up of calcium carbonade. Wow! I have to go there to know what calcium carbonade looks like. What makes Bahamas famous is not only about the beach but the rich culture of diverse people inhabiting the island and the different resorts and events you could see there. If you are also a beach person like me then this place is a must visit for us. I can now imagine myself strolling about the beaches and swimming into its clear water, then partying with different people from different places and cultures.

Speaking of going to the
Bahamas, have you heard of the Flamingo Bay Yacht Club and Marina? Well, they offer one of the best package for us to stay in the Bahamas for 3 days and 2 nights. What’s good about the place is that it is just 5 minute away from the beach! And when you want a vacation that still feels like home, this is the place to stay. Well, they almost have what you need and more. Plus, you can book online and inquire for the best price that fits your budget. Oh how I wish I could be there now. This could be the perfect vacation for me. Now, I must go back to work and save. Who knows, I might be able to save fast and be able to visit the Bahamas in no time.

Next Destination: Spain

I’ve already told you from my previous entries that my mom and my aunt love to travel. They’ve been to a lot of other countries already but they haven’t been to Spain yet. My mom and aunt wanted to travel there in the future but they need to save some more to prepare for their trip considering that my mom recently been to Canada while my aunt recently spend a wonderful trip with his beau in the US.

Spain overview

Among the things that need to consider is the
hotel they wanted to stay in. Well that won’t be much of a problem anymore because they can find the best and cheapest deals there is over the internet.

Madrid

The best two places that they want to stay when they are in Spain are
Madrid and Barcelona. Madrid, the capital of Spain, is one of the top European destination. It is home to Prado Museum – where you could find one of the world’s finest collections of European art from the 12th century to the early 19th century. You could learn a lot from visiting the museum. You could also find the Thyssen Bornemisza Museaun and the Reina Sofia Museum (where the painting Guernica by Pablo Picasso can be found). Madrid also has a rich nightlife for people who are into that lifestyle.

Barcelona

Barcelona, on the other hand, is the second largest city in Spain. My aunt Even wanted to go there because she told me that Barcelona offers a lot of venues for people who loves music and theatre. It is home of the Gran Teatre del Liceu opera theatre! She also told me that you could find very old and very beautiful buildings in Barcelona. Well if I will go to Barcelona I would definitely visit the Barcelona Cathedral, Sagrada Familia, Torre Agbar, and other great architectural sites I could find there.

Here are some very useful links that migth be useful (they have the last minute and all year round accomodations at hotels, hostels and even apartments at a cheaper deals) if you want to look for a place to stay when you are in Spain:
Hotels in Madrid, Hotels in Barcelona, and Hoteles en Barcelona.

Home Away from Home

My mom and aunt are frequent flyers. They travel abroad at lease once in two months. They prepare a lot and there's just so much to think of. I thought that it must be really tiring and there's just so much to prepare for. I ask my aunt about a couple of her experiences traveling abroad and why she travels in the first place. She told me that traveling has become one of her passion. She wants to go places and experience what its like to live in a foreign land even for a brief moment. She got to see the places that she used to see on pictures. She got to experience first hand the diffirent cultures and understand it. She got to meet a lot of people. She is able to gain friends among them. That's what she loves about traveling. The reason why she travels.

My mom, on the other hand, travels because of work. Business meetings here, trainings and symposiums there, and talking to people where she is needed. Unlike my aunt, there's so much to prepare for and not just her personal stuff but all the materials she needed for a certain event as well. There's so much to prepare that even booking in a hotel takes a lot of her time. Yet she takes time to enjoy her trips, if you may want to call it that too, whenever possible. That's the reason my mom travels.

Come to think of it, if I want to travel I need to prepare my things, my flight schedule/s, my iterinary, and even the hotel. There's so much work to do. Thinking of it, might even lose your interest to travel. But now, I saw on website about Hotel Reservations and apon browsing it you'll see that they have a lot to offer that would help you ease your mind and will save you a lot of time preparing yourself if you want to travel.

Hotel Reservations offers different services. If you want to look for the perfect hotel to stay you just click on the hotel button. There you can search for your city, what day to check-in, what day to check-out, how many are you with, and number of rooms you want to occupy. Then the website will show you the best hotels with the best rates. They will give you an information of the hotel's location, average nightly rates (in US $), the photos of the hotel, the information about the city and so much more. You may even compare one hotel from another. This is convinience. You can book your hotel right from the website. Guaranteed Lowest Rates!!

If you think that's what Hotel Reservations can do, there's more! You can also book your flight here. It will gice you different options or flights to choose from. It will show you the airline and flight number, time of departure and arrival, and the best price of course. If you visit the Hotel Reservations now you'll see what I am talking about. There's even an instruction on how to navigate the site. Isn't it wonderful? I will surely tell my mom and aunt about what I found out about this website. When it's my time to travel, I will difinitely check this website too.

You can contact them at (1) 817-333-5105 for reservations or inquiries. If you are in US or Canada you can call the hotline 1-800-447-4136. If you are in Europe call 00-800-1276-3549.
