7 Pencillers That I'm Currently Watching

1) Definetely Joshua Middleton... I like his linework... so clean, especially in his work on "Sky Between Branches" and "NYX." The emotions on each character and yeah perspective, he's good at it...

2) Olivier Coipel... His work on Avengers and House of M blows me away... He's a former animator so maybe that explains his consistency in every character he draws...

3) Jim Cheung of Scion and Young Avengers... I saw his work first on Scion... I was passing by Booksale and saw loads of comic books published by Crossgen and when I browse through Scion, I like his style instantly... The Scion books ranges from Php 5.00 to Php 15.00 so I bought loads of it... His linework is also clean... I like the details he put on the characters, especially on metals and clothes.. His work on Young Avengers #1 really inspires me... He's good also in creating loads of character in a page like Olivier Coipel...

4) Tony Harris of Ex-Machina... Wow!!! I love every panels... He's like Alex Ross who draws from picture... I just like how he interpret the script into art...

5) David Finch of Moon Knight... I've been checking his work since Ultimate X-Men but I was impressed on him in Moon Knight... Well, he's from Image so that's explains all the lines and hatches...

6) Steve Mcniven of Civil War... I don't really like his work on Meridian from Crossgen but when he draws the Fantastic Four, he just became a star

7) Carlo Pagulayan of Planet Hulk... Ever since Emma Frost, I've been collecting his art but Planet Hult blows me away... Especially the scene wherein Hulk fights with Silver Surfer...

So that comprises my list for now....

Freelance! Teacher? Who? Me? Huh?

I've been a freelance for months. I'm into sales, animation, art and even into teaching. The photos below show one of my class in Fort Bonifacio wherein I am instructing my students how to draw (this would probably the 4th batch that I've handled). This subject, basic figure and face drawing, is part of their training program as they elevate their respective ranks as military officers.

Before each class begins, they (my students) always tell me that it's impossible for them to learn drawing at their age but I just told them that if given enough time to learn and appreciate the art, eventually, they'll learn how to do it and might even love the art.

After the class, I'm proud to say that I did teach them well because they were able to draw!!! If they practice some more they would be really great at it. They were even astonished themselves as how much they were able to learn in just a short period of time. I'm proud of them as I am proud of my achievement.

Having these people as students, as I've never would have imagine, was a lot of fun. At first they were so serious but when the lesson begins they were becoming more interrested and throw a lot of questions at you. They were also very interactive and would even respond at my jokes.

Well, it never crossed my mind that teaching would be fun. Maybe it depends on what material you are handling . Being a full time teaching? Nah, I don't think so.

24 Hr Convenience Store

Congrats to my parents for their new business - 24 hr convenience store. They just opened it recently (Aug. 01, 2006). This would be their 4th business together. I'm so proud of them.

The name of the store is 6A. They got the name from me. Way back in high school, when I was creating sketches and drawings, I signed them with 6A. 6A because in Filipino 6 is anim and my family name is Anima , so I just added "a" after the 6. Hmmm when you see the store it should be pronounced as Anima. Nice isn't it.

BTW, my sister's the one who suggested the name after seeing one of my drawing in her room with my signature on it.

That's my mom and my brother Michael. Kind of blurry though, my dad took all the photos and were sent to me via MMS.
